You
Can Survive Bankruptcy
By Rick Bruya
If people or businesses find themselves overwhelmed with debt, the last
resort is usually to file for bankruptcy. As much as possible to try to
salvage your record and avoid bankruptcy since this is a red flag on
your record and it usually stays there for 7 to 10 years.
These days it is very common for people to be immersed in financial
trouble. Many are deep in debt due to unemployment, mounting health
bills, or awful spending habits.
If you find yourself on the verge of being bankrupt, take steps in
trying to avoid it.
Cut down on your spending, or you may even find a part-time job to earn
more money to pay for your debts.
However if these steps do not work and you soon find yourself filing
for bankruptcy, consider this your wake up call. It is time you
evaluate objectively your spending habits, maybe you spend more than
you earn each month.
This however, is not the end of the world; you can still clean up your
credit record.
The first step in surviving bankruptcy is learning from your mistakes.
If you were overspending, learn to create a budget and stick to it. You
may also try to establish an emergency fund, just in case you may find
yourself unemployed in the future.
If your health is poor, consider a job with health insurance.
Surviving this difficult time also means taking steps in cleaning up
your credit record. Check your records with credit bureaus, go over
your accounts, and see if they were properly reported under "included
for bankruptcy."
You should also try to get a secured card, but make sure that you do
not go over your available limit each month.
Of course, the best advice to anyone for anyone going through
bankruptcy is to maintain a positive attitude. Getting discouraged is
not really going to help.
Remember, nothing lasts forever. If you take matters into your own
hands, you will soon find yourself starting over.
Avoid bankruptcy at all costs. And repairing your credit may feel like
an insurmountable task. You can find more information at http://www.squidoo.com/Credit-Repair-Repair.
