Affiliate Internet Marketing Tip - Search Engine Optimization for Affiliate Link Web Pages By Donovan Baldwin If you have gotten involved with any affiliate marketing programs, you may already have discovered two important facts about the "web page" that you were given for marketing purposes. If you want to be successful with an affiliate program, this is one Internet marketing secret you need to konw. It is a fact that that YOUR affiliate webpage might be nothing more than a link that leads to a website which collects a cookie which lets the affiliate program know who to send the commission to if a sale is made. The two major problems with these websites, or affiliate marketing links, are: A. They all lead to the same page, one that is usually a dynamic page, created only at the moment the website visitor arrives, and B. You have no control over the content of that affiliate page Many people receiving their affiliate marketing link for whatever program they have signed up for, immediately submit it to several search engines, firm in their belief that money will shortly begin flowing their way. The problem is that, in most instances, they have in effect issued a press release that is a blank sheet of paper. The purpose of this affiliate marketing tip is to explain why this is so, and what a member of an affiliate marketing program can do about it! Let's look at the two problems. Most Affiliate Program Marketing Pages Are Dynamic Pages Which Are Only Created When The Website Vistor Arrives When you register a domain name, get hosting for your website, and have a website designer/builder create a web page for you, there is obviously going to be the visible content of the web page, just as with a "dynamic" page. However, there are also factors contained within the code used to create the page as well which are of value to search engine optimization and Internet marketing efforts. Most web pages handed out by affiliate marketing programs are created by various scripts, and YOUR individual, unique webpage does not actually exist. It merely pops up when requested by someone. In many cases, if you see a "?" in the URL, for example, a search engine will only recognize what appears in front of the "?". For example, http://wemakelotsofmoneyonline.com?howard could be an affiliate link for Howard Doe to participate in the wemakelotsofmoneyonline.com affiliate marketing program. Most search engines, however, will see this link as http://wemakelotsofmoneyonline.com, completely ignoring the part which could identify Bob's specific page. Bob will not get any credit for sales made from a link on a search engine which has dropped his identifier off the end of the URL. Also, search engines identify the value of the web page based on content and coding contained behind the page which is visible to humans. With a dynamically produced page, none of this information exists, and, without it, the search engine will generally assign the affiliate marketing link to the nether regions of Hell. Most Affiliate Program Marketing Pages Are The Same And You Have No Control Over Content On The Page The first part of this statement about the pages being the same is a problem both for search engines and humans. Many search engines, when faced with multiple duplicate affiliate program pages will either reject the link altogether, assign it a very low ranking (read "Nether regions of Hell"), or simply consider the affiliate page to be another page of the original company site, i.e. wemakelotsofmoneyonline.com. Finally, you have no control over the content of the page. Content is where you make some of your first steps in the process of differentiating yourself from all the other folks trying to sell the same thing from identical pages. Actually, selecting a unique domain name is normally what I consider to be the first, but, for the purpose of the subject of this paragraph, we will consider content to be king. So, what's my affiliate marketing tip for getting around these problems inherent in an affiliate marketing page? You will want to register a domain name which reflects the interest of your business. You will then design and build a website which discusses intelligently the virtues and values of the product or service, or have it done for you. You then apply search engine optimization techniques and a broad range of Internet marketing techniques to promote YOUR site which will attract people interested in your product or service. Once at YOUR site, these interested people, referred to as "targeted website traffic", and worth a lot more than random visits from people who stumble into your site by accident, can be swayed and influenced by the information you provide them. So who the heck am I who is providing this Internet marketing tip? I am a guy who, several years ago, began building my own informational sites to promote products and services exactly in the manner I describe. I knew nothing about Internet marketing at the time, and Internet marketing techniques such as search engine optimization, which I have written about elsewhere, was relatively simple...and the term had not even come into use yet. It was only a few years later that I took the Corey Rudl Internet Marketing Course and learned that I was using techniques recommended by the most successful of professional Internet marketers. However, by using the technique which I discovered on my own and describe in this affiliate marketing tip, I built a six-figure income from online sales. Most Internet marketers, yours truly included, acquired the Internet marketing tools currently in their toolkit at great personal cost...both in time and money. However, if you know how to go about it, you can access an Internet marketing course which teaches genuinely successful Internet marketing techniques at a cost far less than the thousands of dollars many of us have spent! In fact, as I write this, the foremost company in this field is providing a trial of their highly acclaimed Internet marketing training online for only $2.95! There is much to learn when it comes to Internet marketing. There is strategy and technique, of course, but there is also training available at reasonable costs. Nobody entering the field today needs to suffer for lack of understanding when it comes to Internet marketing techniques. P. S.
