The Fact About Free Traffic Exchanges You Need to Know

Yes, I do use them to drive traffic to certain sites, but I cannot recommend them for every website, product, or business.

When used properly, free traffic exchanges can make your Internet business seem like you've hooked onto an autopilot income method.

However, I don't want to talk about the techniques for using traffic sites effectively. Most of the time, it's some pretty simple stuff. You use a splash page. You offer a gift or free information to get them to click. You design your own page so you stand out. You start with a product or service which will be of interest to people surfing free traffic exchanges.

Etc.

All of this stuff is easy to learn and simple to implement. You can find it anywhere. A quick bit of research will make you an expert on using free traffic exchanges to produce traffic to your website.

Unless you have the product or service that is going to make almost everybody stop surfing long enough to visit your website and possibly buy something, or at least sign up for something so you can contact them later, you will still be disappointed unless you realize one fact.

You are going to need a lot of visitors, and I mean hundreds or even thousands a day, to really make enough sales to make your free traffic exchange promotions worthwhile.

There are three ways to do this:

1. Surf, surf, surf, everyday for hours. Lots of exchanges. Just sit there and click your little heart out. Boring, but it can be effective with the right product or service. However, you have traded one job for another. But, you can make a living at it.

2. Upgrade. Most free traffic exchange sites will allow you to upgrade. Although there are different levels, costs can range from a monthly subscription, sometimes starting for less than $4 a month, such as at High-Hits.com, or a lifetime upgrade which can cost an annual investment of a few hundred dollars, for which you get expanded services.

3. Build a downline. While a large downline in a free traffic exchange can create a huge amount of free website traffic, day-after-day, building a downline is a business in itself. You have to advertise for downline members, and, unless you can motivate them, most are going to drop out, so you are faced with the task of continually recruiting new downline members to replace those who drop out.

Upgrading and building a downline both have some major benefits with some "free" traffic exchanges.

Many upgrade packages include downline members automatically assigned to you. Since many of these traffic exchanges automatically enroll you in their affiliate program, you can make income from downline members who upgrade or purchase services themselves, in addition to getting surfing credits for their activities.

One problem is keeping up with the best free traffic exchanges to use. You can do a lot of the legwork yourself, but one website, TrafficHoopla.com, provides a weekly report of the 10 most effective traffic exchanges.

HINT: Many of these traffic exchanges include a downline builder" with links to other traffic exchanges and Internet marketing services and tools. Joining these and then putting your link into the downline builder can help you build a downline in those programs as well.

Whether or not upgrading at a free traffic exchange is worth it, is a question you will have to answer for yourself. There is no doubt that you will need a lot of traffic from these sources to make them an effective part of your online marketing plan.

The good news is, that, since they are free, you can simply do some "sweat equity", and surf 'til the cows come home to see if they deliver the returns you require before you actually put any money into them.

HINT: You can use one free traffic exchange to promote another in order to build a downline. However, don't spread your clicks too thin. It might be better to send 50 visitors to each of two sites than 10 visitors each to 10 different sites.
